A Wild Harvest: Highlights from the 2025 Vintage
2025 – What a Crazy Harvest! All varietals, across all types seemed to ripen simultaneously without rhyme and reason. But the fruit is turning out well. A couple of stand outs to report include:
2025 Anthony Cellars Chardonnay, Celilo Vineyard – after a break, this beautiful, silky Wente-clone Chardonnay is back, comfortably tucked away in its brand new French oak puncheons until bottling in late March. Look for this in May 2026.
2025 Barbera, Elephant Mt. and Coyote Canyon – hot years seem to bless Barbera in our state with a good balance of fruit to acid level. The concrete egg is doing wonders to it’s complexity. Look for this in 2027/28.
2025 Syrah, Elephant Mountain – we added Syrah from Elephant Mountain to our portofolio this year. It will be showing up as a standalone (eventually), but will be featured in a crazy new blend from us in 2026 and as the new Syrah-Cabernet in 2027. You’ll start to see this in 2026.
Red Experimentation – we also experimented with oyster shells and their addition to two different varietals. The early results were promising and we’ll tell you which varietals eventually. Heck – what’s Lobo Hills without a little craziness?
And, of course, a highlight of the harvest was having Patrick Marriott and Gavin Shipman in the cellar. They did a marvelous job keeping the harvest moving forward.
